Armenian president tops the list of most frequently cited politicians in December

Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan topped the list of most frequently cited politicians by local mass media in 2010 December, according to the findings of Mediagid,the first Armenian automatic news processing and handling system.
YEREVAN, January 18. / ARKA /. Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan topped the list of most frequently cited politicians by local mass media in 2010 December, according to the findings of Mediagid,the first Armenian automatic news processing and handling system. According to its head Armen Martirosian, president Sargsyan was referred to last month 483 times.
MediaGid is a system of automatic processing and handling of news items, which are analyzed by a special program uniting news and stories on similar topics, divided by categories. News items are provided by partner systems – Armenian mass media, the main principles of the system is timely reporting, accessibility and impartiality.
It was launched on November 30, 2010.
The popularity index is formed on the basis of news reports received from partner websites which mention the names of Armenian politicians. Overall, Mediagid indexed in December 3,398 references of 149 Armenian politicians.
The second was prime minister Tigran Sarkisian, who was mentioned 441 times. The third was Nagorno-Karabakh president Bako Sahakian (291). The first top five included also ex-Yerevan mayor Gagik Beglarian (129) and foreign minister Edward Nalbandian (120).
