More than a half of the respondents in the public opinion poll conducted by ComRes British Sociological Organization are confident in their participation in the presidential election.
YEREVAN, November 7. /ARKA/. More than a half of the respondents in the public opinion poll conducted by ComRes British Sociological Organization are confident in their participation in the presidential election.
56% of the respondents guarantee their participation in the election and 8% are confident they will not participate in the election, President of ComRes Andrew Hawkins told journalists in Yerevan.
55% of respondents are ready to go to the election on the nearest Sunday, Hawkins said. Citizens with higher educational level expressed greater willingness to participate in the election, he added.
“More positive attitude toward participation in the election was expressed by population of Aragatsotn region (89%), Tavush region (75%) and Gegharkunik region (74%), as well as Armavir and Shirak regions (60% each),” Hawkins said reporting low, in average, willingness to participate in the election among the population of Yerevan (55%), Siunik (51%) and Ararat region (38%).
Hawkins also pointed out that the highest confidence in participation in the election was expressed by supporters of Armenia’s Prime-Minister Serge Sargsian (77%) and the Leader of People’s Party Tigran Karapetian (79%).
“It is worth to mention that the supporters of Tigran Karapetian are 1% of the overall number of respondents,” Hawkins said.
The public opinion poll was conducted by ComRes in cooperation with Armenian Sociological Association and PR company in all ten regions of Armenia from 25 to 31 of October. 2,000 citizens of the country selected on the basis of their educational level, employment, age and gender.
ComRes company is one of the leading European social organizations with extensive experience in conducting political polls, particularly in Great Britain, China, Australia, European Parliament.
The company periodically conducts sociological surveys for “The Independent”, BBC and Sky News, as well as polls ordered by political parties and charity organizations.
