YEREVAN, February 20. /ARKA/. An exit poll conducted by the Populus organization (Great Britain), as well as the preliminary information at the disposal of the RA Central Electoral Commission (CEC), inspires more hopes for the victory of RA Prime Minister, Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Serge Sargsyan in the presidential election in Armenia.

The RPA Board member Armen Ashotyan expressed the opinion that the preliminary conclusions can be made after the main information on Yerevan is available.

Ashotyan also pointed out that the counting of votes is uneven, the electorate’s preferences differing from village to village.

“I think that the data in the CEC’s data base correspond to the facts, that is, they are based on the protocols of election commissions,” he said.

Ashotyan added that the information is being received from Armenia’s different regions.

According to the Populus organization (Great Britain) Serge Sargsyan is the leader of the presidential race (57.01% of votes), followed by Armenia’s ex-president Levon Ter-Petrosyan (17.06%).

According to the CEC’s preliminary information, Sargsyan is expected to receive 60.2% after 28% of ballot-papers have been counted.

According to the preliminary data, 1,642,672 or 69.26% of voters participated in the voting. A total of 2,328,320 voters are officially registered in Armenia. –0—
