A new chapter of friendship: Yerevan and Marseille become sister cities

YEREVAN, May 6. /ARKA/. Yerevan and Marseille have become sister cities. The corresponding joint declaration was signed on Monday by the mayor of the Armenian capital Tigran Avinyan and his Marseille colleague Benoit Payan.

"Yerevan and Marseille are opening a new page of cooperation. This step (signing the declaration) formulates our common goals and strengthens more than 30 years of partnership based on mutual respect, historical memory and a common vision of development," Avinyan wrote on Facebook.

According to him, both cities face the same challenges - both Yerevan and Marseille strive to create an effective, solidarity-based and people-oriented urban environment.

Avinyan expressed confidence that the signed declaration will become the basis of a program that, excluding formalities, will become a platform for practical results and mutually beneficial projects.

Mirzoyan called on civil society representatives in Armenia and Azerbaijan to "engage in dialogue and patience to build trust"

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that today, in the South Caucasus, they are no longer simply discussing the possibility of peace, but are talking about an established peace.
