YEREVAN, September 10. /ARKA/. An Armenian parliament member Arman Babajanyan on Tuesday confirmed his decision to leave the Bright Armenia faction.
"The reasons for my decision are connected with general trends in Armenia rather than with Bright Armenia party. After the revolution, I did not see the planned reforms and fulfilled promises. The New Armenian society has managed to get sick, creating new problems and new challenges," he said at a meeting of parliament today.
According to him, new problems have arisen not only in domestic, but also foreign policy. Babajanyan said he sees no need to continue his activities as a member of any parliamentary faction, and will remain in the National Assembly as an independent lawmaker.
Earlier, the head of the Bright Armenia faction, Edmond Marukyan, said if Babajanyan quit the faction, he should return the party’s mandate.
He recalled that Babajanyan had been elected to parliament in December 2018 elections on Bright Armenia's party list. - 0--
