Armenia and Azerbaijan Discuss Unblocking Transport Links and Trade Cooperation

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov discussed the unblocking of economic and transport links between the two countries, the Armenian Foreign Ministry’s press service reported.
YEREVAN, September 25. /ARKA/. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov discussed the unblocking of economic and transport links between the two countries, the Armenian Foreign Ministry’s press service reported.
The ministers met on September 24 on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
"The ministers emphasized the importance of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, reviewing the progress achieved following the agreements reached at the 2025 Washington peace summit. Particular attention was paid to unblocking economic and transport links between Armenia and Azerbaijan," the statement said.
In this context, trade and transit cooperation between Armenia and Azerbaijan was highlighted as a practical example of the benefits of peace.
Mirzoyan and Bayramov also exchanged views on opportunities to advance a positive agenda across various multilateral platforms.
Following the meeting, the ministers agreed to continue direct dialogue.
On August 8, 2025, in Washington, the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan—Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov—initialed the agreed text of the Agreement on Establishing Peace and Interstate Relations. This took place in the presence of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and US President Donald Trump. The parties stated the need to continue work toward the subsequent signing and ratification of the agreement. The text of the document was published on August 11, 2025.
