Armenia and Iran Discuss Removing Obstacles to Bilateral Freight Transport

Armenia's Ambassador to Iran, Grigor Hakobyan, and the Vice President of Iran—who also serves as co-chair of the Armenian-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission—Hamid Pourmohammadi, met recently to discuss the current state of bilateral freight transport, existing obstacles, and ways to resolve them.
YEREVAN, September 28. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Ambassador to Iran, Grigor Hakobyan, and the Vice President of Iran—who also serves as co-chair of the Armenian-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission—Hamid Pourmohammadi, met recently to discuss the current state of bilateral freight transport, existing obstacles, and ways to resolve them.
The parties emphasized the importance of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and noted the need to hold the commission's 19th meeting in the near future, the Armenian Embassy in Iran reported.
It was previously reported that the heads of the customs authorities of Armenia and Iran had reached an agreement to launch a "simplified customs corridor" along the Norduz-Meghri route.
It is expected that, in the initial phase, this simplified regime will apply specifically to agricultural produce, food products, and certain essential goods.
