YEREVAN, August 30. /ARKA/. Armenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina signed today the first interstate agreement, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian told journalists on Wednesday during a joint briefing with visiting Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Crnadak.
Nalbandian said this year the countries celebrate the 20th anniversary of establishing bilateral diplomatic relations, however, in spite of this, little has been done over the years.
"Today we signed the first agreement between the two countries, which provides for the abolition of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports. We hope that in the future it will be possible to abolish also the visa regime for all citizens of our countries," Nalbandian said.
He noted that during today's meeting the sides discussed the formation of a legal framework that will be discussed during subsequent meetings. Nalbandian expressed hope that the first visit by Crnadak to Armenia will contribute to the development and expansion of bilateral relations, the stimulation of trade and economic contacts that have great untapped potential.
In turn, Crnadak noted that the first visit of the foreign minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Armenia marks a new stage in the development of bilateral relations.
'As for the signed first agreement, it is a symbolic beginning, and we will try to maximally liberalize the visa regime between the peoples of the two countries, which will allow us to develop tourism in both countries," Crnadak said.
He also said the foreign ministers of both countries signed a memorandum of cooperation, which will help to establish closer contacts between the countries. --0--
