YEREVAN, January 29. /ARKA/. Armenia observed the 22nd anniversary of its armed forces on Tuesday January 28.

The anniversary events started before Tuesday. A liturgy was served in Holly Echmiadzin Saturday.

On Tuesday the military leadership of the country and the high officer staff visited “Erablur” Pantheon in Yerevan and paid tribute to heroes of Karabakh war. A concert was held in Yerevan Tuesday evening.

On January 28 1992 Armenia’s government made a historic decision and the minister released his first decree.

1988-1992 became the first stage of army building when there was an urgent need to secure the population of Armenia and Karabakh amid intensified liberation movement in Karabakh and aggravated Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. The volunteer detachments were the first ones to undertake protection of population but soon it came up it is the government who should deal with national security issues and protection of borders. –0--
