Armenia signs five Council of Europe conventions

Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan arrived in Strasbourg yesterday evening to address the January session of the PACE, his press office reported.
YEREVAN, January 24. /ARKA/. Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan arrived in Strasbourg yesterday evening to address the January session of the PACE, his press office reported. It said the visit started with a meeting with the newly elected President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Michele Nicoletti.
Sargsyan also met with Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland and attended the signing of a number of CE conventions by Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and Jagland. Overall, Armenia and the Council of Europe have signed some 80 international treaties.
The parties, in particular, signed the revised Council of Europe Convention on Cinematographic Co-Production, the Council of Europe Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters (amended by the protocol of 2010), Council of Europe Convention on an Integrated Safety, Security and Service Approach at Football Matches and Other Sports Events, as well as Additional Protocol to the Council of Europe Convention on the Prevention of Terrorism and the Council of Europe Convention against Trafficking in Human Organs . -0-
