The Armenian government has terminated the mandate of Marianne Clark-Hattingh as UNICEF’s Representative to Armenia, Armenian Foreign Ministry's press secretary Anna Naghdalyan told ARKA news agency.

YEREVAN, March 9. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has terminated the mandate of Marianne Clark-Hattingh as UNICEF’s Representative to Armenia, Armenian Foreign Ministry's press secretary Anna Naghdalyan told ARKA news agency.

She said the Armenian government found that the way Marianne Clark-Hattingh implemented her mandate in Armenia and her method of work were problematic and did not promote cooperation.

The press secretary stressed that the UN Resident Coordinator to Armenia and UNICEF Representative are aware of the Armenian government's decision.

The day before, Armenian Telegram channels claimed citing their sources that the Armenian authorities suspected Marianne Clark-Hattingh of espionage in favor of Azerbaijan and Great Britain.

According to Telegram channels, the official Yerevan decided to terminate her mandate, but give a diplomatic explanation for this.

Marianne Clark-Hattingh assumed leadership of the UNICEF Armenia country office in July 2020, -0-
