YEREVAN, September 27. /ARKA/. Armenia’s foreign minister Edward Nalbandian spoke on Wednesday about the independence referendum in Iraqi Kurdistan, held on September 25. According to the preliminary results of the vote count, more than 90% of the 3.3 million people who took part in the referendum, voted for independence.
Voters had to answer "yes" or "no" to the question "Do you want the Kurdistan region and Kurdish territories outside of it to become an independent state?".
"Armenia expects the Iraqi authorities and regional authorities of Iraqi Kurdistan to avoid tension and find opportunities to resolve the existing issues," Nalbandian said. --0-
