YEREVAN, August 12. /ARKA/. The Armenian parliament, dominated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party, elected August 12 after 4-day debates chairpersons of 12 standing committees.

Nine of them will be chaired by representatives of the Civil Contract and the other three by the representatives of the opposition Hayastan (Armenia) and Pativ Unem (I Have Honor ) alliances. 

The Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs (12 members) is chaired by Vladimir Vardanyan (Civil Contract),

- Standing Committee on Defense and Security Issues (11 members) - Andranik Kocharyan (Civil Contract),

- Standing Committee on Foreign Relations (18 members) - Eduard Aghajanyan (Civil Contract),

- Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Issues (8 members) - Gevorg Papoyan (Civil Contract),

Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environmental Protection (10 members) - Vahe Ghalumyan (Civil Contract),

- Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports (9 members) - Sisak Gabrielyan (Civil Contract),

Standing Committee on European Integration (8 members) - Arman Yeghoyan (Civil Contract),

- Standing Committee on Labor and Social Issues (8 members) - Heriknaz Tigranyan (Civil Contract),

- Standing Committee on Healthcare (8 members) - Narek Zeynalyan (Civil Contract),

- Standing Committee on Economic Affairs (12 members) - Vahe Hakobyan (Hayastan),

- Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration (8 members) - Armen Gevorgyan (Hayastan),

- Standing Committee on the Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs (8 members) - Taguhi Tovmasyan (Pativ Unem).

In the June 20 early elections Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party won 53.91% of the vote and controls 71 seats in the 107-member National Assembly.

The Hayastan (Armenia) alliance controls 29 seats (21.09% of the votes) and another alliance called Pativ Unem (I Have the Honor), led by Artur Vanetsyan, former chief of the National Security Service, has 7 seats (5.52%). -0-
