Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan sent a congratulatory message to Theresa May in connection with the assumption of office as leader of the Conservative Party and the UK Prime Minister.

YEREVAN, July 14. /ARKA/. Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan sent a congratulatory message to Theresa May in connection with the assumption of office as leader of the Conservative Party and the UK Prime Minister.

"I am confident that thanks to your many years of political experience, you will direct the United Kingdom along the path of development and prosperity, by confronting all the existing challenges and achieving new successes,’ the message released by Sargsyan’s press service said.

The President noted that Armenia attaches importance to development of cooperation with the United Kingdom in all spheres of mutual interest, as well as to further deepening of friendship between the two peoples.

Sargsyan expressed hope that by joint efforts the two countries will be able to raise to a new level their friendly relations and give a new breath to the bilateral agenda in the name of prosperity of the two countries.

"Wishing you success in your important mission, please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration," the congratulatory message says.

Queen Elizabeth II on Wednesday officially appointed Theresa May as British Prime Minister. Earlier she accepted the resignation of the previous head of the government David Cameron. -0-
