Armenian, Slovenian foreign ministers agree on parliament friendship

In welcoming his counterpart Erjavec described the relations between the countries as “excellent” and “friendly”. He expressed hopes Nalbandyan’s visit will give a renewed impetus to the cooperation, says the report. 

Nalbandyan, in turn said the main aim of his visit is to deepen cooperation with Slovenia in various fields. The sides discussed a wide range of bilateral issues. 

Nalbandyan and Erjavec agreed to make extra efforts for intensifying the political dialogue, strengthening cooperation within international organizations, expanding the legal and contractual framework, holding regular consultations between the two foreign ministries, developing trade and economic ties, and etc. The sides stressed also the importance of inter-parliamentary links. 

The ministers discussed cultural exchange, cooperation in education and science, as well as measures to establish decentralized cooperation. 

The ministers talked about Armenia-EU cooperation. Nalbandyan reaffirmed Armenia’s willingness to deepen multi-sided cooperation with the EU in all fields, based on the previous achievements and bearing in mind Armenia’s commitments within other international integration formats. 

Armenia’s foreign minister briefed his counterpart on the Armenian genocide centennial commemoration events. 

Nalbandyan presented the recent developments in the Karabakh peace process, the efforts of OSCE Minsk Group, Armenia and the co-chairs to settle the conflict. In this respect, Slovenia vice-premier reaffirmed his country’s unquestioning support for the peaceful settlement. 

The sides exchanged views on a number of international and regional issues, the Ukrainian crisis, Near East processes and the Iranian nuclear program in particular. 

Nalbandyan invited his counterpart to Yerevan. 

The ministers gave a joint press conference after the meeting. 

Later on Monday Edward Nalbandyan delivered a lecture at Ljubljana University. –0--
