YEREVAN, January 29. /ARKA/. The president of France Francois Hollande has called on Turkey’s authorities to recognize the 1915 Armenian genocide in Ottoman Empire, gazeta.ru reported referring to Agence France-Presse.

Hollande made this statement on the very first day of his visit to Turkey, which is the first official visit of president of France to Turkey over the last 22 years.

Uncovering history is always painful, but must be done, Hollande said. France will pass a law to criminalize Armenian genocide denial, he said.
