More than 1.24 million voters cast ballots in the Armenian elections, with turnout as of 5:00 PM reaching 48.92% - Central Election Commission

YEREVAN, June 7. /ARKA/. As of 5:00 PM, 1,224,957 voters, or 48.92% of the total, had cast ballots in the National Assembly elections in Armenia, according to Central Election Commission member Zhirayr Karapetyan.

According to the Central Election Commission, 48.52% (412,168 people) voted in Yerevan, 51.13% (57,199) in Aragatsotn, 48.43% (106,622) in Ararat, 44.80% (101,408) in Armavir, 46.86% (83,348) in Gegharkunik, 49.77% (106,161) in Lori, 51.01% (122,692) in Kotayk, 46.23% (96,077) in Shirak, 55.36% (59,215) in Syunik, 54.15% (24,171) in Vayots Dzor, and 53.27% (55,096) in Tavush.

There are 2,503,976 people included in the voter registry of Armenia.

It should be noted that in the previous snap elections to the National Assembly of Armenia, held on June 20, 2021, as of 5:00 PM, 989,972 voters, or 38.17%, had cast their ballots. The number of Armenian citizens eligible to vote was 2,593,572.

About the elections

Regular parliamentary elections are being held in Armenia on June 7. According to the Central Election Commission, 2,503,976 people have been included in the voter registry of Armenia.

Voting began at 8:00 AM and will end at 8:00 PM. There are 2,005 polling stations in operation. Turnout as of 5:00 PM was 48.92%.

Eighteen political forces are participating in the elections: two blocs and 16 parties: the Reformist Party; Democratic Party "I Against All"; Strong Armenia Bloc; Meritocratic Party of Armenia; Reformist New Force Party; Wings of Unity Party; Prosperous Armenia Party; Pan-Armenian National Democratic Pole Party; Kochari - National Revival and Awakening of the Nation Party; Armenian National Congress Party; Republic Party; Christian Democratic Party; Democratic Union Party; Democracy, Law, Order (DLO) Party; Civil Contract Party; Armenia Bloc of Parties; In the Name of the Republic - Defenders of Democracy Party; Bright Armenia Party.

Parties and blocs that have overcome the statutory threshold are eligible to participate in the distribution of parliamentary mandates: 4% for parties; 8% for two-party blocs; 10% for blocs of three or more parties.
