Next nationwide election to bypass ruling party in Armenia – Tsarukyan

The leader of Prosperous Armenia party Gagik Tsarukyan said the next nationwide elections in the country will leave Melik-Adamyan street where the office of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia is, aside.

YEREVAN, May 6. /ARKA/. The leader of Prosperous Armenia party Gagik Tsarukyan said the next nationwide elections in the country will leave Melik-Adamyan street where the office of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia is, aside.
Member of the parliament and press-secretary of Prosperous Armenia said Tsarukyan made the statement at a meeting between the party political council and the faction.
Earlier the vice-speaker of the parliament Eduard Sharmazanov said the only way to Armenian president’s and premier’s posts is through Melik-Adamyan street.
The meeting discussed also the party’s position on the new government program to be submitted to the parliament in May.
Tsarukyan said no changes will occur in the party’s political line and urged the members to actively work with all strata of the society.
The next nationwide election in Armenia, election to the National Assembly, is to be held in 2017.
The Prosperous Armenia Party is a centre-liberal party founded in 2004. It currently has the second biggest faction after the ruling RPA and holds 36 seats in the 131-seat parliament. The party is led by tycoon Gagik Tsarukyan.
The Prosperous Armenia was in the ruling coalition from 2007 to 2012, but is claiming to be an alternate political force now. –0—
