Parliamentary committee approves ratification of Armenia-Greece defense cooperation agreement

YEREVAN, June 7. /ARKA/. The Defense and Security Committee of the Armenian National Assembly approved the ratification of the military and technical cooperation agreement between Armenia and Greece, Deputy Defense Minister Armen Sarkisyan reported on Friday.

The agreement itself was signed on 14 December 2023 by Armenia’s Defense Minister Suren Papikyan and his Greek counterpart Nikolaos Dendias.

Sarkisyan noted that the agreement defines areas of cooperation between the two countries, including research of innovative technology aimed at strengthening defense capabilities, technical support in arms production, and creation of joint weapon manufacturers.

“The agreement will also allow our countries to conduct joint personnel training and repair each other’s military equipment,” Sarkisyan revealed.

A joint Committee with representatives of Armenia and Greece is to be created, he added, to ensure the implementation of the agreement.
