YEREVAN, January 24. /ARKA/. The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that the West is inciting Yerevan to destroy ties with Moscow. This is stated in the Russian Foreign Ministry's answers to media questions received for Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's press conference.

“Russian-Armenian relations are going through a difficult period. This is largely a consequence of the actions of the West, which over the past year has been increasing pressure on Armenia, inciting it to destroy traditional ties with Russia, and imposing values alien to the Armenian people. Unfortunately, the country has often responded favorably to the unsubstantiated promises of the U.S. and EU to replace Russia for Armenia. But the CSTO is the cornerstone of Armenia's security, and membership in the EAEU is a guarantee of its economic well-being,” the Russian ministry said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Moscow has repeatedly informed Armenian friends that neither Washington nor Brussels think about the fate and interests of their partners. The West is accustomed to perceive them exclusively utilitarian. Yerevan should not ignore the events that unfolded in Georgia late last year, the Russian ministry argued.

“Moscow has always cherished and continues to cherish brotherly relations with Yerevan. We consider this country one of our natural strategic partners and allies. We are committed to the entire set of agreements with Armenia in trade-economic and military-political areas, formalized at the bilateral level and within the framework of common integration associations,” the Russian ministry said.-0-
