Russian Rosgranitsa to open its Armenian office in 2014 March

The Russian Federal Agency for the Development of the State Border Facilities (Rosgranitsa) will open its Armenian office in 2014 March, the Armenian National Security Council said today following National Security Council secretary Artur Baghdasaryan’s meeting with Rosgranitsa chief Yuri Maltsev.

YEREVAN, December 11. / ARKA / The Russian Federal Agency for the Development of the State Border Facilities (Rosgranitsa) will open its Armenian office in 2014 March, the Armenian National Security Council said today following National Security Council secretary Artur Baghdasaryan’s meeting with Rosgranitsa chief Yuri Maltsev.
Armenia’s state border with Turkey (330 kilometers) and Iran (45 kilometers) are guarded by Russian and Armenian border guards. Armenian leadership views the presence of Russian border guards, along with a Russian military base in the country as an important component of the national security.
The agreement on deployment of Russian border guards in Armenia was signed in 1992.
