Trade between Russia and Armenia will decline in 2025, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk told reporters.
YEREVAN, December 12. /ARКА/. Trade between Russia and Armenia will decline in 2025, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk told reporters.
"If we talk about mutual trade last year, as you recall, trade between our countries was $15.4 billion. This year, it will obviously be at least $6 billion, which is a very noticeable decline," TASS quotes the Deputy Prime Minister as saying.
According to Overchuk, Russian businesses have become wary of doing business with Armenia.
"Although, overall, we maintain good contacts," he noted.
The Deputy Prime Minister also stated that at some point, Armenia must make a final decision between the EAEU and the EU.
"As for Armenia's rapprochement with the European Union, we have spoken about this repeatedly. We believe that membership in two integration associations simultaneously is incompatible. And at some point, the people of Armenia will have to make a choice. This is the choice of the people of Armenia," Overchuk said.
According to Armstat, Armenia's trade turnover with Russia in the first 10 months of 2025 amounted to $5.72 billion, a decrease of 47.8% compared to the same period in 2024. Meanwhile, exports from Armenia decreased by 9.2% to $2.38 billion, while imports from Russia, as an exporting country, amounted to $3.48 billion, a decrease of 58.3%.
