U.S. Embassy in Armenia temporarily suspends some visa services
YEREVAN, January 8. /ARKA/. The US Embassy in Armenia said today that due to recent events in the Middle East, it  has temporarily suspended some visa services (presumably, for Iranian citizens). If said if an appointment was canceled for non-immigrant visa appointment the applicant should continue checking the scheduling website for available appointments.

If the appointment is rescheduled by the Embassy, the applicant will receive an email notification at the email address provided when creating the applicant's appointment.

Regarding immigrant visa appointments, the Embassy will reschedule the appointments at the first available opportunity. The embassy said it will communicate any updates to the email address  provided by applicants.

Also the Consular Section of the Embassy said that some changes have been made to entry procedures for  U.S. visa applicants when visiting the Consular section.

It said large personal bags will no longer be permitted. The applicants must plan on not having any item larger than a handbag with them when visiting the U.S. Embassy. If the applicants have larger items, they will not be permitted to enter the Embassy. They neither will be able to store their  items with guards, or leave them at the guard shack at the Embassy hill top.

Because of absence of diplomatic relations between the US  and Iran, many citizens of Iran wishing to travel to the USA, apply for visas to the US Embassy in Armenia.

According to reports, Iran fired missiles at two bases in Iraq housing US troops early Wednesday in revenge for the US killing of General Qassem Soleimani.  Responding to the attacks, US President Donald Trump tweeted, “All is well!” Trump said he would make a statement later Wednesday.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the strikes were a “slap in the face” of the US and called for a withdrawal of US troops in the region. Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said the strikes were “proportionate measures” in response to Soleimani’s killing. -0-
