Yerevan municipality orders snow-removers to clean streets of snow

The Yerevan municipality said it has ordered all snow-removers to start cleaning streets of abundant snow that has been falling for hours already.
YEREVAN, February 1, /ARKA/. The Yerevan municipality said it has ordered all snow-removers to start cleaning streets of abundant snow that has been falling for hours already.
According to weather service, snow has been falling across the whole country from early hours of the morning closing roads in some mountain areas and passes.
The first snowfall in the capital city this winter has stalled traffic at some part of the town. The mayor’s office said in a statement that the number of snow clearing equipment may be increased in case of need. It also said some 70 tons of technical salt and 160 cubic meters of snow have been used to make the snow melt.
It said all administrative districts of the city have enough salt and sand to fight snow. But according to residents, not only in downtown Yerevan but also in its suburbs the traffic is stalled and public transport does not work effectively.
The only operating public transport facility is the Metro. According to latest forecast, temperatures in February will go down 4-5 degrees on Celsius and abundant snowfalls are expected both in Yerevan and beyond it. -0-
