Application to transfer Hrachya Harutiunyan to Armenia under consideration

Armenia’s minister of justice Hovhannes Manukyan told the family of the Armenian citizen Hrachya Harutiunyan convicted of a car accident that the application on his possible transfer is currently being considered.

YEREVAN, January 20. /ARKA/. Armenia’s minister of justice Hovhannes Manukyan told the family of the Armenian citizen Hrachya Harutiunyan convicted of a car accident that the application on his possible transfer is currently being considered.
Russian court in Moscow has sentenced Hrachya Harutyunyan, an Armenian truck driver, who was involved in a bus crash near Moscow last summer that left 18 people dead and 40 others injured, to 6 years and 9 months in prison.
The minister also said the convict transfer procedure is a long one. The ministry has already applied to the Russian ministry of justice for full information on the transfer issue.
Manukyan informed the family that he will have a phone talk with his Russian counterpart soon to make the issue clear.
The family of the convict thanked the minister for the meeting and the detailed information.
Harutiunyan’s father-in-law Victor Martirosyan said he believes sooner or later Harutiunyan will be transferred to Armenia.
On July 13, 2013 the gravel-loaded truck driven by Hrachya Harutiunian, an Armenian citizen working in Russia collided with a packed commuter bus outside the Russian capital.
The investigation revealed that the accident resulted from poor maintenance of the truck resulting in a brake malfunction. –0--
