YEREVAN, March 18. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, who was appointed to spearhead the efforts of the government to contain the spread of coronavirus, said restrictions on leaving the town of Etchmiadzin will be lifted on 20:00 on Wednesday.

He said in a Facebook post that the decision was prompted by the fact that the detected cases of coronavirus did not go beyond the circle of people with whom a patient who had tested positive for the virus about a week ago, had contacted.

At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister again called on the residents of the town, as well as the entire population, to comply with all the rules of the state of emergency, to show high civil responsibility, not to participate and not organize crowded meetings and events. He said also that in case of symptoms similar to flu, citizens should self -isolate, and if necessary, immediately consult a doctor or call the hotline 060838300.

On March 16, the Armenian government introduced a 30-day state of emergency. According to the official data, the number of coronavirus cases in Armenia has reached 84. The first case of coronavirus infection in Armenia was confirmed on March 1. The patient has already recovered and was discharged from the hospital.

Among those infected are Armenian citizens from Iran and Italy (residents of Yerevan, Echmiadzin, Meghri and Charentsavan), people who contacted with them, as well as one Italian citizen and a visitor from France. Most of the infected, including one schoolchild, are residents of Echmiadzin, as well as people who were in contact with an infected person at a factory in Yerevan. -0-
