Armenian government approves discounts for motorists if they pay traffic fines within 15 days

YEREVAN, January 11. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has approved today a bill, which if approved by the parliament, will allow motorists to pay only 70% of a fine for breach of traffic law in case it is paid within 15 days.

In addition, it has been proposed that motorists who choose the digital method of receiving fine notices instead of the paper method will receive a 20% discount on the fine amount.

The proposed discounts are cumulative, but are applied sequentially. That is, if a citizen initially agrees to electronic notification, they will receive a 20% discount. In case of payment within 15 days, a 30% discount is given, but not from the initial amount of the fine, but from the remaining amount. Thus, the final total discount is less than 50%, namely 44%.

In addition, a 50% discount would be available for fines already issued but not paid, if citizens pay them within 3 months after the law comes into force. -0-
