YEREVAN, January 15. /ARKA/. A 62 year-old man, who also had the H1N1 flu virus, died from heart-lung failure in a hospital in Armenia, Armenia’s health authorities said today. "The death resulted from the exacerbation of heart failure," the health ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said the reported number of acute respiratory infections (ARI) across the country is on the rise with some 14,1080 people with signs of acute respiratory infections having sought medical help as of January 14. It said some 837 of them were treated in hospitals, 95% of them were children.
The statement said medics continue to monitor the state of children with respiratory infections in preschool institutions and schools. On January 14, some 499 children had signs of acute respiratory infections were sent home.
In order to assess the activity of influenza and ARI, ministry employees make periodic visits to medical institutions to oversee the situation. Earlier, a 57 year-old woman had died of chronic diseases complicated by H1N1 virus. -0-
