YEREVAN, August 18. /ARKA/. The first half of 2026 saw a drop in crime in Armenia, as reported by Acting Chief of Police and Acting Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kamo Tsutsulyan.

"In the first half of 2026, we recorded approximately 21,960 crimes, which is a reduction of 65 cases, or 0.3%, compared to the same timeframe in 2025 (22,025 crimes). This decline is mainly attributed to fewer crimes against property and individuals," Tsutsulyan mentioned during a press conference on Tuesday.

He added that the proportion of serious and particularly serious crimes within the total registered crimes fell by 1.9% during this period.

"Armenia is regarded as a safe nation, a fact supported by data from international expert platforms," Tsutsulyan stated.

However, he also noted an uptick in attempted murders.

"In the first six months of 2026, there were 51 reported cases, up from 39 in the same period of 2025," Tsutsulyan explained.

Additionally, he indicated that there were 2,146 traffic accidents recorded in the first half of 2026, compared to 2,072 incidents during the same period in 2025. -0-
