Human factor remains the main cause of fires - Rescue Service of Armenia

YEREVAN, August 8. /ARKA/. The human factor remains the main cause of fires, said the head of the National Center for Emergency Situations Colonel Arsen Mkrtchyan.
"Despite the fact that recently new causes of forest fires have appeared, such as the greenhouse effect, global warming, the human factor remains the main cause of fires," Mkrtchyan said at a press conference today.
He noted that firefighters are always ready to start the fight, but they are physically unable to fully and constantly monitor the forests under observation, because the fight against forest fires is everyone's business.
Mkrtchyan urged the citizens to observe the safety rules, not to light fires in unauthorized places, not to throw matches and cigarette butts.
He also noted that in connection with the expected heat wave the firefighters will be on an increased duty mode in crowded places and near forest belts. Forecasters predict that temperature in Armenia will reach 42 degrees Celsius in the coming days. -0-
