Independence Day celebration in Armenia to be unprecedented this year

Festivities to be held in Yerevan on September 21 to celebrate the 27th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, Eduard Aghajanyan, the head of the Armenian prime minister’s administration, said on Tuesday.

YEREVAN, September 18. /ARKA/. Festivities to be held in Yerevan on September 21 to celebrate the 27th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, Eduard Aghajanyan, the head of the Armenian prime minister’s administration, said on Tuesday.  

“This year the Independence Day celebration will be unprecedented and special – the main events will take place in the Republic Square, but unlike the past years, events will be decentralized and will be held in different districts of the capital city and in all the cities and settlements of the country,” he said adding that the festivities will take place under the slogan “You are Independent”. 

In his words, there will be a reception in the residence of the prime minister, where a pleasant surprise is expected. 

Culture Minister Lilit Makunts, on her side, said that concerts will be given is different districts of Yerevan. 

She also said that people can take part in a selfie hour in the Republic Square from 14:00 to 15:00. 

“Everybody can communicate celebrities and take a photo with them,” she said.     
Ruben Hovhannisyan, chief of the Yerevan municipality’s culture division, said that the festivities in the Republic Square will kick off at 10:00.  

“At 12:00 some 2,000 schoolchildren will take part in chalk drawing, and at 13:00 an exhibition titled ‘Vernissage’ will open,” he said. 

There will be two stages for performances, he said, there will be organized Kids’ City and wind bands will march here.  -0---
