Prime minister demands improvement of education system

Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan drew the attention of the Cabinet today to the need of a dramatic improvement of the quality of the educational system.

YEREVAN, February 2. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan drew the attention of the Cabinet today to the need of a dramatic improvement of the quality of the educational system.
"We can not have a quality education system without qualified teachers and quality training programs meeting the modern requirements. Unfortunately, today the retraining of teachers is often a formality, being often replaced with a physical presence," said Karapetyan.
He also noted the acute problem of the quality and content of the textbooks, voiced also by parents and teachers.
The prime minister instructed the minister of education and science to develop a plan of actions for improving the efficiency of the National Institute of Education through a comprehensive revision of its functions and structure. -0-
