YEREVAN, June 12. /ARKA/. The re-elected mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan was sworn in today  in a solemn ceremony, attended by President Serzh Sargsyan, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, National Assembly Speaker Ara Babloyan, MPs, members of the City Council and other dignitaries.

"I am happy for my fellow party members and for other political forces that received a vote of confidence in Yerevan… Remember that Yerevan is the capital of all Armenians, a symbol of the homeland for all Armenians scattered all over the world," Sargsyan was quoted as saying by his press office.

"Yerevan is an ancient city, which is constantly improving and  new rules of coexistence are being formed. Our goal is to make Yerevan move in harmony with the times," Sargsyan said.

The head of state stressed that the development of tourism is one of the priorities of the Armenian economy and  therefore, the capital city should have a modern European look - with modern lighting systems, comfortable sidewalks and  public recreation areas.

He said  that Yerevan  faces a number of complex problems for which solutions must be found. "There is no need to invent a bicycle to solve these problems. It is necessary to study international experience and see how it is applicable in our conditions," Sargsyan said. . -0-
