Reverse mortgages for pensioners planned for implementation in Armenia
YEREVAN, October 28. /ARКА/. Armenia plans to introduce reverse mortgages for pensioners, announced Suren Tovmasyan, Chairman of the Cadastre Committee, during parliamentary discussions of the draft 2026 state budget.
"This institution will apply to Armenian pensioners who own real estate. They will be able to take advantage of this opportunity after the relevant legislative package is adopted," Tovmasyan noted.
According to him, thшы mechanism will allow pensioners who own real estate to transfer their property to a reverse mortgage and receive monthly payments from the bank, thereby improving their social status.
The head of the Cadastre Committee also announced that a draft дфц has been developed that provides for the introduction of he right of cohabitant.
A reverse mortgage is a financial instrument that allows property owners, typically retirees, to receive regular cash payments secured by their home while retaining ownership. Upon the owner's death, the home passes to the bank or to the heirs, provided they are able to repay the debt and keep the property in the family. -0-
