YEREVAN, July 13. /ARKA/. At its extraordinary meeting held Monday morning, the Armenian government extended the coronavirus-prompted state of emergency for another month.
Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan said, presenting the details of the decision, that the state of emergency introduced in Armenia on March 16, 2020, after which it was extended until 17:00 on June 13 and then until 17:00 on July 13, 2020 of the year inclusively is again extended for a month - until 5:00 p.m. on August 12, 2020. The decision takes effect immediately after publication.
As a justification for the extension of the state of emergency in the country, the government indicates that the reasons for which the state of emergency was declared remain, and in order to ensure effective mechanisms to counter them, a new extension is necessary.
A state of emergency in order to suppress the spread of coronavirus was declared in Armenia on March 16, 2020, and then extended three times a month. Thus, according to the decision of the government of June 12, the state of emergency is valid in Armenia until 17:00 on July 13.
The restrictions on free movement and some types of economic activity introduced on March 24 were lifted on May 4, and on May 18, public transport, gyms, kindergartens and catering facilities were reopened.
According to the situation on the morning of Monday, July 13, there were 32,151 confirmed cases of coronavirus, 573 deaths and 19,865 recovered patients in Armenia. -0-
