YEREVAN, April 18. /ARKA/. Armenia’s State Control Service said today it had revealed that two water using companies in Armavir and Etchmiadzin caused damages to the state in the amount of 2 billion drams (the equivalent of about $4.1 million).
It said the amount of damage caused by each of the companies is 1 billion drams. The damage was caused in 2014-2018. The head of the State Control Service David Sanasaryan said the 2 billion drams are to be restored.
According to him, the use of water resources for years was accompanied with serious violations, and today the aim of the authorities is to restore the damage inflicted on the state.
"Water losses exceeded the permissible norms. We found irrigated land that was not registered anywhere. Numerous unreasonable debit debts were identified," he said. Sanasaryan said the law-enforcement authorities opened a criminal case into these breaches. -0-
