Validity of QR codes for Yerevan public transport reduced

YEREVAN, January 7. /ARKA/. Yerevan residents are expressing frustration as the validity period of QR codes for public transport has unexpectedly been reduced without prior notice.
Previously, a 100-dram ticket for one trip, obtained from TelCell terminals, was valid for 30 days. This period was later shortened to 7 days, and the city authorities informed residents about the change in advance.
However, since January 6, the QR code for the 100-dram ticket is valid for only 4 days, with no prior notification provided.
On the Unified Ticket System
Since January 1, Yerevan has implemented a unified ticket system, under which cash payments are no longer accepted on buses, trolleybuses, and the metro. Several payment methods have been introduced: paper single-use tickets with QR codes (from TelCell terminals), a mobile app, permanent passes, and bank cards.
The following tariff packages are available:
- 280 (300) drams – "90 minutes" ticket (for 3 rides)
- 880 (900) drams – daily package (for 8 rides)
- 4800 (5000) drams – weekly package (for 30 rides)
- 8800 (9000) drams – monthly package (unlimited rides)
- 23,600 (24,000) drams – 90-day package (unlimited rides)
- 88,800 (90,000) drams – annual package (365 days, unlimited rides)
The first number is the cost of online tickets, while the number in parentheses is the price for the ticket on a physical card. When purchasing any of these tariff packages, citizens will be able to use all types of public transport – buses, the metro, and trolleybuses.
On the initiative of the city administration, until February 1, 2025, the cost of a single ride on buses and the metro remains 100 drams.
