Yerevan City Hall outlines 4 ways to acquire transport passes
YEREVAN, January 13. /ARКА/. The Yerevan City Hall has outlined four ways to purchase transport passes: physical (plastic) and electronic tickets.
"Currently, transport passes can be purchased at self-service terminals at all 10 Yerevan Metro stations, located next to the ticket offices. They need to be identified and registered (on the website transport.yerevan.am - ed.)," said Sargis Manukyan, Director of the Yerevan Management Technology Center, at a working meeting at City Hall on Monday.
He emphasized that starting tomorrow, from 11:00 to 16:00 and from 20:00 to 23:00, citizens who encounter difficulties using these terminals in the metro will be assisted on-site by special operators.
Additionally, Manukyan mentioned that passes can also be obtained at two information support centers at Yerevan City Hall—on Hanrapetutyan Street and France Square.
"Payment for transport tickets can be made with bank cards of the ArCa, Visa, or Mastercard systems. These cards can be 'converted' into dual-use cards—both financial instruments and transport cards—by linking them to a discounted or non-discounted fare," he said, adding that payment with American Express and Mir cards is not possible.
It will also be possible to purchase paper QR codes for a single trip from TelCell terminals.
According to Manukyan, in the near future—no later than February 1—another option will be activated: the TelCell Wallet application, through which citizens will be able to use an electronic transport ticket.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Suren Grigoryan stated that the system will prevent users from taking a screenshot of an electronic ticket to avoid third parties using it.
About the Unified Ticket System
Since January 1, a unified ticket system has been in effect in Yerevan, under which cash payments are no longer accepted on buses, trolleybuses, and the metro. Several payment options are available: paper single-use tickets with a QR code (from TelCell terminals), a mobile app, permanent travel cards, and bank cards.
The following tariff packages are available:
- 280 (300) AMD – for a 90-minute ticket (3 trips)
- 880 (900) AMD – daily package (8 trips)
- 4800 (5000) AMD – weekly package (30 trips)
- 8800 (9000) AMD – monthly package (unlimited trips)
- 23,600 (24,000) AMD – 90-day package (unlimited trips)
- 88,800 (90,000) AMD – annual package (365 days, unlimited trips)
The first figure represents the cost of online tickets, while the amount in brackets refers to the fare for a physical travel card. When purchasing any of the tariff packages, citizens will be able to use all types of public transport – buses, metro, and trolleybuses.
