Yerevan municipality decides to deal with garbage collection problems

YEREVAN, July 17. /ARKA/. The Yerevan Municipality discussed today ways to deal with garbage collection problems reported in a number of administrative districts of the Armenian capital city.

According to Vice Mayor Tigran Avinyan, there is a shortage of garbage collection equipment. "There are problems in some neighborhoods in terms of garbage collection, and it is necessary to inform Yerevan residents about the reasons behind the problem,' he said.

According to Avinyan's advisor Kamo Areyan, the three-day checks confirmed that the garbage collection problem has worsened in some districts, the collection schedule has been violated, and the garbage bins are overfilled.

He assured that all resources have been mobilized to stop the aggravation of the situation- "The situation remains unfavorable, but the main reason is the shortage of special equipment," Areyan said, pointing to the large number of malfunctioning garbage trucks.

Avinyan noted that 4 units of new garbage collection equipment are expected to reach the capital one of these days. -0-
