Eleven Armenian athletes qualify for 2016 Olympic Games

In the outgoing year 11 Armenian athletes have qualified for 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, secretary general of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Hrachya Rostomyan said today. He added that another 13-16 athletes are expected to qualify for the Games in 2016.

YEREVAN, December 24. /ARKA/. In the outgoing year 11 Armenian athletes have qualified for 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, secretary general of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Hrachya Rostomyan said today. He added that another 13-16 athletes are expected to qualify for the Games in 2016.
"If we manage to win 25-26 qualifications for the Olympic Games, we will consider our work satisfactory,’ said Rostomyan.
"Our gymnasts made us happy this year, however, our boxers failed. I hope that next year, our boxers will be able to win tickets to the Games in Rio. Of course, it will be very difficult, because the qualification tournament will be held in Azerbaijan and Turkey, ‘said Rostomyan.
The 2016 Summer Olympic Games will be held from 5 to 21 August in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). They will be the first Olympic Games, to take place in South America and the second in Latin America after the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City. -0-
