Government releases 35.7 million drams for amateur cross-country tournament

YEREVAN, October 7. /ARKA/. The government of Armenia has released today 35.7 million drams to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports from its reserve fund for conducting an amateur cross-country tournament.
The event is scheduled to take place on a section of Yerevan-Etchmiadzin road October 30. Education, Science, Culture and Sports Minister Vahram Dumanyan said 15 million drams of the total amount will be distributed to the winners as prizes and the rest will be used to organize the tournament.
According to him, the purpose of the event is to popularize sports and a healthy lifestyle, promote physical education and sports.
The tournament will be held for three age groups:
- boys and girls 15-17 years old (3 km),
- women 18-35 years old and men 18-40 years old (10 km),
- women over 36 years old and men over 41 years old (10 km).
The top three winners in the first age category will receive computers as prizes. Winners in the second and third age groups will receive 1 million drams, silver medalists - 600 thousand drams, bronze medalists - 400 thousand drams. Participants who took the fourth and fifth places will receive 150 thousand and 100 thousand drams, respectively.
Those who take 6-10 places will be awarded 75 thousand drams and those who come 11-20th - 50 thousand drams. Anyone can participate in the tournament if they have an appropriate health certificate.
