New football academy to be built in Armenian Gyumri

The Armenian government on Friday has released over $2.4 million for the construction of a football academy in the second largest city of Gyumri, the administrative center of the northwestern region of Shirak.

YEREVAN, 25 September. / ARKA /. The Armenian government on Friday has released over $2.4 million for the construction of a football academy in the second largest city of Gyumri, the administrative center of the northwestern region of Shirak.

The project will be implemented jointly with FIFA and UEFA, territorial administration and emergency situations minister Armen Yeritsyan said.

Funding will come also from the Armenian Football Federation, FIFA and UEFA. The government said as part of this program the Technical Center for the Football Federation of Armenia had been built.
Construction of the new football academy in Gyumri is aimed at developing football infrastructure in Armenia and creation of modern conditions for training young players. 

According to the investment program, the academy will comprise the main building, six football fields that will meet the standards of FIFA and UEFA. The new academy will be able to train thousands of young men and girls.-0-
