YEREVAN, December 22. /ARKA/. The World Sambo Championship (adults) will be held on November 10-12, 2023 in Yerevan, the International Sambo Federation announced.

"Members of the Federation's executive committee decided to approve the candidacy of Armenia, taking into account the successful experience of holding the World Sambo Championship among cadets, youth and junior in Yerevan in October this year," the Federation said.

European weightlifting championship for adults will also be held in Yerevan in 2023.

The 3-day Sambo World Championship among among cadets, youth and junior took place on October 14-16 in Yerevan. About 500 athletes and wrestlers from more than 20 countries fought for 55 sets of medals.

Youth combat sambo competitions were held for the first time during the World Championship.

Armenian national teams successfully performed in the world championship and won 20 medals: 1 gold, 2 silver and 17 bronze. -0-
