Seasonal Yerevan-Batumi trains transported 46,378 people

Seasonal trains traveling between the Armenian capital Yerevan and Batumi, a popular destination of Armenian vacationers on the Black Sea coast in Georgia have transported 46,378 people from June 15 to October 2, almost as many as in the same time span last year, the Russian-owned South Caucasus Railways (SCR), operating Armenia’s railroads, said today.

YEREVAN, October 6. / ARKA /. Seasonal trains traveling between the Armenian capital Yerevan and Batumi, a popular destination of Armenian vacationers on the Black Sea coast in Georgia have transported 46,378 people from June 15 to October 2, almost as many as in the same time span last year, the Russian-owned South Caucasus Railways (SCR), operating Armenia’s railroads, said today.

It also said some 481 tickets were sold via Internet, by 2.5 times more than last year's figures. In summer the SCR introduced a set of additional services for passengers, including Wi-Fi and free roaming sim-cards for first class passengers.

On October 2 the company resumed trains between Yerevan and Georgia’s capital city Tbilisi. 

The South Caucasus Railways is run by Russian Railways. The concessional agreement was concluded in 2008 for 30 years, with a right of extension for another 20 years after the first 20 years of operation. -0-
