YEREVAN, December 25. /ARKA/. Starting next year, Armenia’s ministry of agriculture will begin creating a cadastre of vineyards, deputy agriculture minister Robert Makaryan said today.
"The creation of the cadastre will provide an opportunity to understand which grape varieties are grown in the country, which are endemic varieties and what kind of projects we should carry out to enhance viticulture and winemaking development," Makaryan told reporters.
The deputy minister also noted that this will provide an opportunity to fully regulate the relationship between processing enterprises and agricultural producers. According to him, this work will be implemented with the support of the Armenian Vineyard and Winemaking Foundation, founded in 2016.
The government of Armenia declared winemaking as a priority sector of the economy. The Armenian Vineyard and Winemaking Foundation is supposed to promote viticulture, help upgrade the country’s winemaking rating and competitiveness in the international arena, step up exports and raise Armenia’s attractiveness as a wine-making country. -0-
