YEREVAN, July 25. /ARKA/. The Armenia Marriott has launched an internal investigation following cases of illness following a reception at the French Embassy, the hotel reported in response to an ARKA news agency inquiry.
"As one of the caterers at the recent event at the French Embassy, we are deeply concerned about the reported cases of illness," said Susanna Musaelyan, Director of Sales and Marketing at Armenia Marriott.
She stated that the health, safety, and well-being of guests and customers are the hotel's top priorities, and food safety is a top priority.
"After receiving information about these cases, we launched an internal investigation, and samples of food prepared in our kitchen were sent for laboratory testing," Musaelyan said.
She noted that the Armenia Marriott has established food safety procedures and guidelines in place that comply with public health requirements.
"We are ready to fully cooperate with any investigation related to this incident," the hotel representative emphasized.
Earlier, the Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia announced an upcoming inspection at the Armenia Marriott following cases of acute intestinal infection among attendees of a reception organized by the French Embassy to celebrate Bastille Day, France's national holiday.
According to the agency, on the evening of July 17, the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention notified the Inspectorate that 10 people had sought medical attention with a diagnosis of acute intestinal infection.
An epidemiological investigation revealed that all those infected had attended a reception at the French Embassy in Armenia on July 14.
The Inspectorate reported that information about the Armenia Marriott providing catering for the event was received from the embassy on the evening of July 23.
The agency noted that by that time, the food products used for the reception had already been completely consumed and were no longer available for inspection.
At the same time, an inspection will be conducted at the Armenia Marriott. The results are planned to be published after the inspection is completed.
