Armenia to refund state duties to cognac alcohol producers

YEREVAN, February 11. /ARKA/. The government of Armenian made a decision today to refund state duties to exporters of cognac alcohol.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the decision to refund the state duties to exporters is to help them overcome the problems they faced with selling their products in other countries.
“In order to organize the grape procurement process normally this year, we must stimulate the export of cognac alcohol. I hope that this will help stimulate the process,” Pashinyan said.
Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan noted in this regard that the decision will apply to exports made from January 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021. However, according to him, the issue requires a systemic solution.
According to the Ministry of Economy, in the first 11 months of 2020 exports of cognac and cognac alcohol decreased by almost 28% or 8 million liters from the same time span of 2019. In 2020, producers purchased 235 thousand tons of grapes, and according to the ministry's estimates, about 215 thousand tons were used for the production of about 19.0 million liters of cognac.
In 2019, 163 thousand tons of grapes were purchased. Of that volume 145 thousand tons were used for the production of 13.0 million liters of cognac.
In total, 350 million drams were paid by companies in the form of state duties for the export of cognac alcohol in 2020. ($ 1 - 523.13 drams). --0--
