Armenia's Civil Aviation Committee has denied today rumors claiming that the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair has decided to terminate flights to Armenia.
YEREVAN, December 8. /ARKA/. Armenia's Civil Aviation Committee has denied today rumors claiming that the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair has decided to terminate flights to Armenia.
"The rumors circulated by some media outlets that the well-known Irish low-cost airline Ryanair will no longer operate flights to Armenia are not true," the Committee's Facebook page says.
It says that Ryanair, like a number of other airlines, has not yet resumed flights to Armenia due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Committee said Ryanair had approached it earlier saying it was ready to operate flights to a range of European destinations from Yerevan from October to March.
However, due to the second wave of coronavirus, the airline said it would refrain from flying during winter navigation season.
At the same time, Ryanair expressed its readiness to operate flights during the summer navigation period in 2021 if the situation with COVID-19 improves.
"The airline has never announced the termination of flights to Armenia and is ready to resume flights once the situation with the coronavirus improves and the restrictions imposed to stop its spread are lifted," the Committee noted.
The Irish low-cost airline Ryanair made its first flight to Yerevan on January 14 from the Italian Milan.
In early September, the Armenian government replaced the state of emergency, declared on March 16 to stop the spread of coronavirus, with nationwide quarantine regime that will be in force until January 11, 2021. -0-
