The Kievyan Bridge has been closed to traffic since June 17. Repairs will last until August 29.
"The closure of this important junction connecting two parts of the city has, of course, impacted already congested traffic, but this period is likely the most optimal given the holiday season," Karapetyan stated.
According to him, the City Hall announced the traffic reorganization in advance and published the modified routes, but traffic needs time to adjust to the new layout.
Karapetyan noted that the discontent among drivers and residents was expected, but given the current traffic load, choosing a more convenient time for repairs was extremely difficult. He emphasized that repairs and strengthening of the bridge were inevitable and urgent.
According to him, the bridge's expansion joints will be replaced, waterproofing will be provided, a new asphalt concrete surface will be laid, sidewalks and railings will be repaired, and the protective layers of the structures will be restored.
Karapetyan urged residents to be patient, noting that this will make traffic on the bridge smoother, safer, and more comfortable, and will ensure its long-term reliability.
