YEREVAN, January 29. / ARKA /. The diversified international group of mining companies GeoProMining (GPM) has announced the launch of a closed water circulation system at Agarak Copper-Molybdenum Combine (ACMC).

The installment of the new modern water circulation system is part of a major n program designed to modernize ACMC. This project worth $4.5 million was launched in 2011 September, the company said in a press release.  It said the new closed water circulation system rules out ingress of technical water in the environment, including the cross-border river Arax.

The multilevel system includes two separate pools for cleaning, located in Davazami tailings.

Backup power systems provide uninterrupted water circulation from the pools to the plant and back. The new system will also dramatically reduce the amount of clean water used in the production.

According to GPM president, Roman Khudoliy, attention to the environment, compliance with international environmental standards and the use of the latest technology are  the fundamental principles of sustainable development of the company.

"The modernization of the enterprise, in addition to the restoration of its economic potential, includes also another priority - to create a modern high-tech production, which meets the highest standards of efficiency and environmental safety. The new system of water circulation is a good example of our effective work in Armenia ", Khudoliy said.

Agarak Copper-Molybdenum Combine is part of GeoProMining. In 2009-2012 it saw a major renovation which has increased its capacity to 3.5 million tons of ore per year. The plant, located in the southern city of Agarak, produces copper and molybdenum  concentrate. GeoProMining runs enterprise in Russia and Armenia. -0-
